Title: Feedback on Doula Support (FODS) Surveys: Exploring Midwives’ Perspectives on Collaboration with Doulas

Key FODS I findings revealed doulas provide crucial emotional support and improve communication but also highlighted recurring challenges, especially lack of role clarity and inconsistent collaboration. 

Top recommendations included promoting dialogue between doula and medical associations.

P03.289: Opening Dialogue on perinatal doula support: improving communication and mutual understanding to better support women

The FODS I pilot study concluded that doula support enhances emotional well-being and team dynamics, contributing to smoother birth experiences. The findings support integrating doulas into care plans, particularly for individuals with anxiety or trauma, to improve birth
outcomes and care models.

Title: Doula-Midwife relations: Opening dialogue to help improve communication, collaboration and mutual understanding within the birth team to provide better support to the woman and her family

The FODS I survey highlights the positive impact doulas have on families and healthcare teams, with midwives recognising benefits such as increased calmness and confidence for mothers.  Strengthening these relationships can enhance care and support for women during the perinatal period.
